The key to a healthy, happy lawn is to fertilize it regularly. Fertilization helps your turf in many ways. It provides your grass with much-needed nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to give you a robust and vibrant lawn that can tolerate stressful conditions.
There's a lot that goes on behind proper fertilization, like timing and frequency to get favorable results. That's why our team gathered frequently asked questions about our fertilization program, including whether our treatments are safe for your pets, so you better understand how we cultivate strong and beautiful lawns. Keep reading to learn more about our fertilization treatments and how it benefits your lawn.
Why do I need to fertilize my lawn?
Fertilizing your lawn helps boost its health and resistance to lawn diseases and insects as it contains much-needed nutrients that strengthen your grass. While most of the nutrients your turf requires to flourish are present in the soil, the availability of these nutrients may decrease over time due to leaching and erosion. When this happens, your grass might grow poorly because it doesn't have what it needs to thrive. To ensure your lawn stays healthy and always looks great, you'll need to schedule multiple fertilizer treatments throughout the year.
What is in the fertilizer you use?
At Picture Perfect Landscapes, our fertilization treatments are all organic-based liquid fertilizers. Organic-based fertilizers help enhance the organic matter present in the soil while continuing to improve your lawn's health and vigor. Ultimately, our fertilizers contain these three crucial macronutrients that all work together to give you a lawn that is nothing short of stellar:
- Nitrogen: This macronutrient promotes greener and more upright grass growth, so your turf looks lush and vibrant.
- Phosphorus: Strong roots help your lawn remain strong even during stressful conditions, and phosphorus helps develop deeper and more vigorous roots. This nutrient also helps with the photosynthesis process of your grass.
- Potassium: This nutrient is responsible for boosting your lawn's ability to resist diseases and tolerate stressful conditions.
These nutrients promote greener grass, more robust roots, and increased resistance to diseases.
Are the products you use safe for pets?
Yes, absolutely! Because we use organic-based fertilizers, you can rest assured your pets are safe from the treatments. However, it's best to wait 24 hours after the fertilizer has been applied before your pets play on your lawn again. After one day, your pets are free to enjoy your lawn again like normal!
How often do you administer fertilizer treatments?
Our lawn care program involves 8 visits every year, and 5 of those include fertilization treatments. We start giving your lawn fertilizers in early spring to give it a healthy kickstart for the growing season. Our last fertilization application will be in the late summer to supply your lawn with all of the nutrients it needs to not only recover from the hot summer weather, but also to help prepare it for the fall and winter seasons.
Our liquid fertilizers are slow-release, so they will supply your lawn with nutrients for an extended period of time.
